Hilltop Radio No.2

Forecast: Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained

The Forecast has a lot to do with the fact, I’ve been on a big Venture Bros. jag lately and one of the episodes made me revisit a particular Pulp tune. I guess it’s kind of a good mission statement for the podcasts themselves.

Pulp – Like A Friend
Bryan Ferry – The ‘In’ Crowd
Electric Light Orchestra – Ma-Ma-Ma Belle [album version]
Tame Impala – Feels Like We Only Go Backwards
Bad Lieutenant – Sink Or Swim
Nick Garrie – The Nightmare of J.B. Stanislas
Spirit – Nature’s Way
Steely Dan – Rikki Don’t Lose That Number
Chicago (Terry Kath) – An Hour In The Shower [demo]
The Byrds – What’s Happening?!?!
Third Power – Passed By
Neil Young – Birds [Live]
Mercury Rev – Opus 40
The King James Version – He’s Forever (Amen)
King Britt – Precious Lord Lead Me On

As always, if you like the music, BUY the music.

Hilltop Radio No.1

Forecast: In like a lion, out like a lamb.

This being the first volume of Hilltop Radio, the tunes stay pretty close to the heart, mostly new(ish) tunes but they all lie in my sweetspot. Like the forecast, It starts off with a roar and a fair bit of noise. Yes, the distorted guitar is supposed to sound like that. It ends more on the pretty side. March where I am hasn’t exactly got to the lamb part yet, but there are hints…

King Creosote – Little Man
Blank Realm – Back To The Flood
The Godfathers – Birth, School, Work, Death
King Khan & The Shrines – Welfare Bread
The Fall – I’m Going To Spain
Scott & Charlene’s Wedding – Two Weeks
The New Mendicants – Shouting Match
Of Might And Main – Those Cave Paintings in France
Camera Obscura – Do It Again
Villagers – Nothing Arrived
Foxygen – No Destruction
The Family Cat – Propeller Blades
Woods – Is It Honest?
Adam Green & Binki Shapiro – Just To Make Me Feel Good
Lightships – Fear And Doubt
The Pastels – Check My Heart
Allessi’s Ark – Veins Are Blue
Taken By Trees – Only Yesterday
Martin Stephenson & The Daintees – California Star
Bad Lieutenant – In The Ghetto.

As always, if you like the music, you should BUY the music.
